New section of Clutha Gold Trail opens, connecting Central Otago to the East Coast!
The new 62km extension of the Clutha Gold Trail, connecting Lawrence and Waihola, opened on 25th August 2023. This exciting new section of trail takes in some of the most beautiful scenery in Central Otago, including the Clutha River, Lake Waihola, and the Milton Gorge.The trail is suitable for cyclists and walkers of all abilities, and is a great way to experience the region's rich history and natural beauty.
The new section also passes through the historic town of Milton, which is a great place to stop for a break or overnight stay.
